OUR CALSS-TACHER proposed to take us to the Colony woolen
Mills at Multan. We paid Rs 40 each and left for Multan on Friday last. We
reached them at 8 a.m, after a very pleasant journey by the Tez Gam. We hired
five Tongas for going to the mill. They took us there, in about twenty minutes.
When we got down, we saw a huge building in front of us. A man, with a rifle in
hand, way standing at the main gate. We were received by the manager himself. Then
he asked one of his assistants to take us round the factory. First of all, he
took us to the spinning hall. We saw many machines spinning wool. Then he led
us to the weaving blankets and woolen cloth of different kinds for ladies and
gents. After that he showed us how different machines washed, dyed and dried
the woolen cloth and the woolen yarn. Huge stores of wool surprised us very
much. It took the manager’s office; we were served with a good lunch and tea.
We thanked him for his kind hospitality, and returned to the railway station to
catch the Ghizala for Khanpur. We greatly enjoyed our visit to the factory.
