SHOKAT and I were going from Karachi to Multan on the 25thof
February. We were sitting in a first-class compartment of the Chenab Express.
She was about to reach Khanpur, when a truck happened to cross the railway
lines. It was carrying about twelve passengers. But it was overtaken by the
engine and was thorn at a distance of several yards. It was damaged very badly,
and some of its passengers received serious injuries. The driver was as safe as
ever. There was no loss of life. Some children who were standing beside the
doors fell down on the floors. The train stopped for a few minutes and then she
steamed off. The injured passerines of the truck were removed to the nearest
hospital. But its driver and the gate-keeper were arrested by the police.
