To
The postmaster-General,
Northern circle, Lahore
Sir,
Most respectfully I beg
to state that my village is situated at a distance of three miles from the
nearest post office. Its residents have, therefore, to face a lot of trouble in
sending money-orders and registered articles to their friends and relations. At
the same time, they find it very difficult to deposit their savings in the post
office, or to make withdrawals, when necessary. The postman comes here only
twice a week, and this is another inconvenience for one and all.
The population of this village is nearly 10,000, and more than 75% of its male
adults are serving in the army. It is surrounded by about a dozen other
villages, within a radius of a mile or so. If you are kind enough to open a
branch post office in this village, it will surely meet a long-felt need.
