The pigeon
is very common bird. It is of many kinds and colours. It is found in almost
every country of the world. White, brown, multi-coloured and fan-tail pigeons
are well worth seeing. But the holy pigeons of Mecca are the most beautiful. It
is a well-known pet in our country. Many boys and young as well as old men keep
pigeons. They feed them with great love, and enjoy the beautiful scene of their
flying together in a circle around their houses. They are also trained to carry
message from one place to another. These messages are written on small bits of
paper, tried under their wings. So they are of great service to us in the days
of war as well as peace. Wild pigeons are seen in large numbers in and around
the shrines, because many pious men and women scatter food for them in their
compounds.
