The blacksmith is a useful member of society. A town or village, he is needed everywhere. He has his shop at some central place in every village. It is usually situated under the shade of a tree, to protect him from the burning rays of the sun. He works hard from morning till evening, beside the furnace the anvil. He prepares axes, plough shares, sickles, spades and many other things for the farmers. He also prepares hinges, bolts, pans, tongs, scissors, knives and locks for the use in their houses. Pair of bellows, a big hammer and a pair of tongs are some of the tools he needs for making different things. He leads a very hard life. He earns his living with the swat of his brow. He is generally paid in kind by the farmers, at the time of the harvest.
