The cow is a domestic animal. She is found almost all the world over. She is of different kinds and colours. She has four legs, two horns on her head and a long tail. She eats grass, hay, husks, grams and oil-cakes. She is often seen chewing the cud. She is of great use to man. Her milk is a perfect food, and butter, cream, cheese, curd, Ghee and butter-milk are some of its well-known products. He hide is used for making shoes, boots, saddles and suit-case. Even her dung is not a worthless thing. It is used as manure by the farmers: and its cakes, as fuel by the poor people. Her bones and horns are used for making buttons, combs and handles of knives and forks. Her meat is eaten by the Muslims, the Christians and the Jews. But she is worshiped by the Hindus, the Buddhists and the Sikhs. She is a great gift of God to man.
