The Story: A
poor traveler reached an inn one stormy evening. He knocked at door to get in.
“please, sir,” said the inn-keeper, “I have lost the key, and the door cannot
they opened now without a silver key.” The traveler understood what he wanted
and pushed a rupee in. As soon as the door opened he asked the inn-keeper to
bring his luggage from the Tonga. But he bolted the door, the moment he went
out. No Tonga and no luggage were to be seen outside. So the inn-keeper
returned empty-handed. But he found the door shut and knocked at it to come in.
“ I have lost the key,” said the traveler and, now, the door cannot be opened
without a silver key.” The dishonest inn-keeper pushed in the same rupee that
he had received a few minutes back. Then the door opened, and he got in,
trembling all over with cold.
