The mosquito
is one of the worst enemies of man. I lay eggs on standing water. Thus stagnant
pools are the breeding places of the mosquitoes. They begin their life as tiny
grubs or worms on the surface of water. They can be killed in two ways, when
they are yet grubs. One is to drain off all standing water; and the other is to
cover all stagnant pools with kerosene oil swarms of them are found near walls,
ponds of dirty water and marshy places, at all times of the year in general and
during the rainy season in particular. They inject a sort of poison into our
blood, as they bit us. This is how we get malaria. If there are no mosquitoes,
there would be no malaria. It is terrible disease and quinine is the best
remedy against it. We can protect ourselves from mosquito by using
mosquito-nets, when we go to bed. Bu the best thing is to destroy mosquitoes
altogether.
