The Story:
Once there lived many rats in their holes in certain. A came there every day in
search of her favorite food. She killed as many of them as she liked, and ate
them to her heart’s content. They held a meeting to think over the problem.
Many proposals came under discussion. But they were all turned down for one
reason or other. At last a young rat proposed to tie a bell round her neck.
“Its ringing,” he said, “would tell us that she was coming towards us. This
would give us chance to run for our lives.” “But who will bell the cat?” asked
and old rat. None could answer this question, and nothing useful came out of
their meeting.
