The story:
Once there were three friends utterly disgusted with their unemployment. They
set out on a long journey to try their luck in a distant town. On their way
through a forest they found a bag gull of gold coins. They thanked God for His
kindness and decided to divide the treasure equally among themselves. But each,
in his heart of hearts, wanted to have it all himself.
They sent one of them to bring
sweets for them from the nearest shop. In his absence, the other two decided to
kill him, as soon as he came back, and to divide the gold coins between
themselves. But the third was just as greedy as they were. He poisoned the
sweets to have all the treasure himself. They fell upon him, and killed him, as
soon as reached there. And they died, before they could divide the treasure
between themselves!
Moral: He
who digs a pit for others, fails into it himself.
