The story : There lived an old beggar in a certain town. he was very clever. he wanted to increase his daily earning. He hie upon a novel plan to try his luck. He got the word dumb painted on a small plate. He hung it round his neck, as he sat under a shady tree beside a shop. People read the plate, as they passed by. They took pity on him and gave him as much in charity, as they could. In this way his daily earnings were almost doubled.
one day, a gentleman who happened to pass by, knew him by sight. He told the truth to his companion but could not convince him. At last he went up to the beggar and suddenly asked him, "How long have you been dumb?" He quite forgot about his decisions not to speak and quickly answered, "Ever since i was a baby, sir," The two friends could not help laughing and went their way.
