The story: A
traveler was once passing through a jungle. He saw a monkey lying ill under the
shade of a tree. His heart melted with pity. He began to nurse it. After some
time, it got well and began to run by his side. They became very good friends
and did not like to part from each other. So they continued the journey
together.
The traveler felt very thirsty one
day. But he could not get even a drop of water to drink. He could go no
further. He lay down on the ground to meet his end any moment. The monkey would
not let him die like that. It climbed up the nearest coconut tree at once. It
plucked a few coconuts and threw down on the ground. Then it carried these to
its friend. He broke these, one by one, and drank their milk to quench his
thirst. He was grateful to the monkey for saving him from the jaws of death.
Moral:
kindness never goes unrewarded. (Or) Do unto others, as you wish to be done by.
