THE BULLOCK
CART is an age-old means of conveyance. It is so useful that it has not
disappeared from Pakistan. It is found not only in villages and towns, but also
in big cities like Lahore and Karachi. It is used for carrying heavy loads from
one place to another. Sometimes, it is also used of carrying passengers. It is
drawn by one, two and even three bullocks. It is all made of wood. Its wheels
make a lot of noise, as it moves along the road. It is of great use to farmers
and those who deal in very often with him, for he cannot do without smoking. He
beats the animals in order to quicken their speed. But despite all that they
move only at a snail’s pace.
