SEVEN of my
friends and I went to the river on our bicycles. Two friends more and a servant
had gone ahead of in a Tonga, with sweets, fruit, meat, rice, places, she a
tea-set and cooking utensils. We hired a coat took our seats beside the oars
and began to row. We saw our friends, sitting on a duree, under the shade of a
tree. Tea was quite ready, and we had it with sweets and biscuits. Leaving the
servant to cook pulao and qorma, we began to row once again. Before long we
were in midstream, and our boat was nearing a whirlpool. We were filled with
fear. We rowed with all our strength and thanked God, when we were out of
danger. We decided to return. We stopped rowing and rejoined our friends very
soon. We had a hearty meal. Then we played at the cards, sang a few songs,
listened to the recorded music on our radio and took a few snaps. We returned
home in the evening, full of great joy at the success of our river boating
trip.
