OF ALL THE
fairs that are held in Lahore. I like the Malia-i-charaghan most. It comes off
in the beginning of the spring season. My friend Javeid and I went to see it
this time. First to all we paid a visit to the mazaar of Hazrat Madho Lal
Husain. We saw hundreds of people offering the fattiha over there. Then we
moved on through the rush, to the Shalimar Gardens. The fair was in full swing.
Jugglers and acrobats were showing feats of their skill. Sweets and other
eatables of different kinds were being sold like hot cakes. Parties of
villagers were singing and dancing with the beat of drums. A circus, atheatre
and a majlis-i-qawali were great attractions for everybody any stalls selling
all sorts of things. Scouts and the police were keeping everything under
perfect control. We stayed there for four hours. We greatly enjoyed our visit
to the fair.
