THE RAINY season lasts from the hiddle of July to the end of
September. It is welcomed by all, because it decreases the heat of the summer.
The sky is often overcast, and we receive frequent showers of rain. They give
new life to the earth. The trees, the plants and creepers look green and fresh
once again. Grass begins to grow in abundance, and cattle have plenty of fresh
fodder to eat. Rivers overflow their banks and floods do a lot of damage to
crops, houses and roads. At the same time, these rains give birth to
mosquitoes; and mosquitoes, to malaria. Many people are attacked by the typhoid
and malaria; and many children, by measles. Thus the rainy season is followed
by a few diseases which end many a precious life.
