THE MANGO is “the prince of all kinds of fruit”. It is very
sweet and delicious. But some mangoes are also sour. It is of many kinds. Its
smell is very pleasant. It comes into the market in summer. Seers of it are
bought by the rich almost every day. But the poor cannot afford to buy so much.
They buy only a seer or two, whenever they can. Some mangoes are just as small
as the eggs of a duck; others are as big as a coconut. They are very hard and
sour, when unripe. They are used for making jam, pickles and sauces. But a ripe
mango is very soft. Its skin is sometimes green, sometimes green yellow, some
mess radish yellow and sometimes yellow altogether. Under the skin is a thick
mass or solid or liquid juice. And this juice has a stone in its middle. The
taste as well as the smell of the juice differs with different kinds. It
produces blood and makes those who eat it, quite healthy and strong.
