I HAVE just entered the hall of the Islamia High school, to take the Secondary School Certificate Examination. It is sixty feet long and forty feet board. It is very airy and well-lighted. It has ten big doors, but they are all closed. The superintendents table and chair are placed on a two feet high, platform. There are it, 200 single desks arranged in ten rows of twenty each. The question papers have been distributed, and we are busy doing them in our answer-books. There is pin-drop silence in the hall, and we are not allowed to ask anything or to look about. We have been warned that if anybody tries to copy his invigilators are very strict. It is a day of judgment for us. Time is fleeting. The superintendents has announced that there are only two minutes more. The candidates have stopped writing. hey are stitching the papers, to hand over their answer-books to the living lators, before they leave the hall.
