COAL is very common thing. But its history is just as interesting as a fairy late. It is nothing but wood pressed under the weight of rocks, for thousands of years. It is buried deep under the ground in certain rocks. IT is found in abundance in many countries of the world. But pakistan is not so lucky in this respect as England, Japan or India are. It is found in small quantities in Kala Bagh and the hills in the Quetta region. It is dug out by the miners and is sent up in different ways. It is of so great an advantage to man that it is called the black diamond. It is used chiefly as fuel in houses, shops and factories. Coaltar and coal gas are two of its well-known products. Beautiful dyes for colouring cloth, sweet scents and some very good medicines are also prepared from tar obtained from coal. It is playing a very important part in the progress of this age and its civilization
